Shaping an Inclusive Tech Landscape: Dipti’s leadership at Nepali Women+ in Computing

Dipti Gautam was already an active leader in the tech community before joining NWiC. She held several prominent roles, including Microsoft Student Partner, Female Champion at We Inspire Nepal, and WLiT Fellow at Women Leaders in Technology, Nepal. Additionally, she served as a Fellowship Coordinator for the Open Knowledge Foundation. Recognized for her exceptional skills and active role in the Nepali tech scene, Dipti was chosen to lead NWiC’s Executive Board as its first president. During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in establishing the organization’s foundation and spearheading impactful initiatives. These included NWiC-CELEBRATE, a story series to share and celebrate the success and accomplishments of Nepali women technologists around the globe , the Open Source Contribution program, and securing grants to support NWiC’s endeavors. Prior to her move to Berlin in 2022, Dipti served as the central point of contact for NWiC in Nepal, ensuring the community’s smooth operations in Nepal.

Under Dipti’s guidance, NWiC launched NWiC-EDUCATE and the US Education Series, expanding the organization’s reach and empowering a wider range of Nepali women, both within the country and abroad. These impactful programs continue to equip participants with valuable skills and knowledge.

Currently residing in Berlin, Germany, Dipti brings her expertise to machtfit gmbh as a software engineer, solidifying her impressive four-year career in the industry. She started her career with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Information Technology from Amrit Campus, and got her first remote job out of college with Magnet Coop (now Biotz).

Beyond her technical prowess, Dipti embraces the vibrant spirit of Berlin. She enjoys exploring the city’s unique character and immersing herself in its cultural offerings. The proximity to other European cities further broadens her horizons and provides a welcome escape. For Dipti, simple pleasures like savoring local cuisine and enjoying a sunny brunch hold the power to uplift and revitalize.

Dipti’s commitment to empowering others extends beyond NWiC. She is a rising star at WEDU, a non-profit organization championing Asian women through mentorship and investment. Having personally benefited from mentorship during her early career, Dipti aspires to replicate this experience within NWiC, fostering a supportive network for young Nepali women and marginalized groups pursuing careers in tech.

Dipti’s story embodies the power of leadership, dedication, and a passion for creating a more inclusive tech landscape. Her contributions to NWiC and her commitment towards the future generations solidify her legacy as a “Pillar of the Nepali Women+ in Computing” community.
