Nepali Women in Computing is organizing a 3-part series on open source contribution this January with the aim to bring students, industry, contributors, and maintainers together and help you get started with the concept. As observed in most student communities, we have realized that most students do want to get started with contributing to open source projects, but are overwhelmed by what it is or what they should be doing. We hope to make it easy for you by bringing in the perspective from all sides! Join us this January and start your year off by learning and participating with us, and learn what it takes to be an open source contributor. You will be listening to the stories and perspectives from our speakers, find good first projects to contribute to, learn how to find those projects, and actually make a contribution on the final week! And of course, you can keep it going afterwards too, with the same project, or any other of your choice!Important Dates:
2nd January, 2021 : Speaker Sessions
9th January, 2021 : Workshops on Git/Github and Clojure Basics, Tech check, and System Setup
16th January, 2021 : Hands-on Contribution and Closing!Time: TBD
This is open for students (and professionals) of all levels, but we hope that you have some basic programming experience and are fairly new to open source for our later sessions. Contributors and non-contributors of all skills and levels are welcomed for our speaker sessions. Note: We welcome applications from all genders and groups, however priority will be given to minorities.
